A quick online poll from YouGov conducted Thursday evening found Americans siding with President Trump over Elon Musk, though many said they would stay out of the dispute completely. Asked whether they would back Trump, Musk or neither, 28% said Trump, while 8% said Musk. Fifty-two percent said neither.
Republicans strongly sided with Trump, 71% to 6%, with 12% saying neither. Democrats mostly favored neither, but of those who made a choice, 11% backed Musk to just 4% for Trump. The survey was conducted online among 3,812 U.S. adults, and was weighted by age, gender, party and other measures. YouGov said the margin of error for the overall sample was about 2%.
