Rogers Communications (RCI) received all sports-league approvals for the 4.7 billion Canadian dollar ($3.43 billion) purchase of BCE's (BCE) 37.5% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.
The National Hockey League, National Basketball Association, Canadian Football League, Major League Soccer and the American Hockey League, approved the deal, Rogers said Wednesday in a statement.
Rogers is boosting its stake in MLSE to 75%. The transaction is subject to approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to buy an additional indirect stake in Toronto Raptors Network (NBA TV Canada), which represents a "very small portion" of the deal, Rogers said.
The deal for BCE's stake in MLSE was announced in September.
