Host Hotels & Resorts Inc. has announced the successful achievement of LEED Silver® certification for the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui, following a transformative renovation of its guestrooms and lobby. Completed in May 2025, the project emphasized sustainability, incorporating features such as an 800 kW rooftop solar system, which contributes to 83% of the hotel's energy needs through green power. The renovation also achieved over a 30% reduction in energy costs and a 32% reduction in indoor water use, thanks to energy efficiency measures and low-flow fixtures. Additionally, nearly 36% of construction waste was diverted from landfills. The use of low-emissions materials and a strict indoor air quality management program were implemented to ensure the health and safety of both workers and future guests. This certification is a part of Host's broader commitment to environmental stewardship and their target of having 40% of their hotels LEED-certified by 2030.
