During April 2025, the company saw a 1.9% decline in LTL shipments per workday compared to April 2024. However, LTL tonnage per workday increased by 4.4%, and the LTL weight per shipment rose by 6.5% to 1,418 pounds, up from 1,332 pounds in the previous year. In May 2025, LTL shipments per workday further declined by 3.2%, and LTL tonnage per workday saw a slight decrease of 0.4%. Despite this, the LTL weight per shipment increased by 3.0% to 1,385 pounds, compared to 1,345 pounds in May 2024. For the quarter to date in 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, Saia reported a 2.6% decline in LTL shipments per workday, a 2.0% increase in LTL tonnage per workday, and a 4.7% increase in LTL weight per shipment.
