China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is drafting safety requirements for driving assistance systems as more car manufacturers are offering such features, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the country's national standards database.
The draft comes as auto manufacturers are rushing to roll out new models with advanced driver assistance systems amid a brutal pricing war, the report said.
They also come after a Xiaomi (HKG:1810) SU7 sedan figured in a deadly car crash in March, according to Reuters.
Among those drafting the regulations are Dongfeng Motor (HKG:0489) and Huawei, the report said.
