US Cash Grains-Corn bids mixed, soy steady as futures rise

CHICAGO, June 3 (Reuters) - Spot soybean bids were steady, while corn bids were steady to mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday as planting wound to a close and selling remained relatively slow.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture's first rating of the soybean crop this year came in at 67% good to excellent, slightly below the average estimate of 68%.

  • The USDA reported 93% of corn was seeded and 69% of the crop was in good to excellent condition. Both were in line with analyst expectations.

  • Regular rain has helped most soybean and corn crops in the Midwest get off to good starts, though the showers also delayed planting in some areas.

  • Soybean futures Sv1 were last up 6-1/4 cents to $10.39-1/2 per bushel. Corn futures Cv1 were up 1-1/4 cents to $4.39-1/2 per bushel
