Broad Market Indicators
Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV declined. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.1%.
US equity indexes were weaker ahead of quarterly Nvidia (NVDA) earnings and as government bond yields increased after midday on Wednesday.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) lost about 0.4% each.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose fractionally; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also edged higher.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) fell 0.6%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) rose 0.1%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) lost 0.4%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) fell 1.1%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), added 1.2%.
Commodities
Crude oil rose 2.2%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was up nearly 2%. Natural gas was down 4.4%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) dipped 4.8%.
Gold was 0.3% lower on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) lost 0.4%. Silver dipped 0.6%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was down 0.8%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) fell 0.2%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also fell.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) slipped 0.3%; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were up slightly.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.1%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) edged lower. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) eased 0.2%.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) fell 0.2%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were softer.
