BP plc has announced the first gas from its Mento project, a 50/50 joint venture with EOG Resources Trinidad Ltd, where EOG acts as the operator. Located off Trinidad's southeast coast, Mento features a 12-slot facility developed in acreage jointly licensed by BP and EOG. This project is part of BP's broader strategy to ramp up its upstream operations, with Mento being one of ten major projects expected to come online between 2025 and 2027. These ventures are projected to contribute a combined peak net production of 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The Mento platform was constructed at the TOFCO fabrication yard in La Brea, Trinidad. BP Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) President David Campbell highlighted the achievement as a testament to successful partnerships in delivering essential gas resources. Following Mento, BP and EOG are also progressing on their subsequent joint venture, the Coconut project.
