1344 ET - Overall visits to Dollar Tree and Dollar General rose in the first quarter, Placer.ai data shows. The location-analytics company says the discount retailers have benefited from continually adapting to the changing economic environment and the shifting needs of consumers. Dollar Tree saw 1Q visits to its namesake banner increase by 4.8% year over year, boosted by new store openings and despite a slight drop in visits per location. Overall visits to Dollar General climbed 1.9% in 1Q, and average visits per location held steady. Dollar Tree is scheduled to report 1Q results Wednesday morning, one day after Dollar General is scheduled to release the recent quarter's earnings. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
