US Cash Grains-Spot soybean, corn bids steady as planting continues

CHICAGO, May 29 (Reuters) - Spot soybean and corn basis bids were steady in the U.S. Midwest on Thursday as farmers focused on seeding the remainder of their crop.

  • The corn and soy bid ticked up at an Illinois river terminal.

  • Basis bids were steady elsewhere, spot checks showed.

  • A stronger dollar, which was triggered by a U.S. federal court blocking President Donald Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs from going into effect, has made U.S. goods less competitive globally.

  • U.S. exporters sold 104,000 metric tons of corn to Mexico and 101,096 tons of corn to unknown destinations for 2024/25 delivery, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported.

  • Sluggish demand and an ongoing U.S.-China trade war have continued to weigh on corn and soy futures.

  • CBOT July corn futures CN25 were last down 5-1/4 cents at $4.45-3/4 per bushel and July soybean futures SN25 were steady at $10.48-1/2 per bushel.
