0303 GMT - Recent volatility in JGB market is "bound to unnerve investors," three members of HSBC Global Research say in a research report. "Insurers, the traditional and stable domestic investor base of super-long JGBs, have been sitting on the sidelines," they say. A volatile environment keeps "price-sensitive private sector participants more cautious, likely awaiting more clarity on a number of variables before wading back into the market," the members say, citing variables including monetary policy. There is also worry over "how the volatility in the long-end could reverberate through to the shorter part of the curve, which will then have an impact on the real economy," they add.
