Unilever (UL) said Wednesday it has decided to guarantee its ice cream workers' employment terms in Europe and the UK for at least three years after the spin-off of the business.

"We have decided to guarantee the total value of working conditions for employees of The Magnum Ice Cream Company in Europe, and the UK and Ireland for at least three years," the company said in an email to MT Newswires. "This will help to provide stability for employees during this transition."

The employment guarantee is triple that required by European Union and UK law for spin-offs, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Unilever's ice cream unit, to be called Magnum Ice Cream, includes five of the world's top 10 ice cream brands including Ben & Jerry's, Magnum, and Wall's, the report said.
