Cerence (CRNC) said Wednesday that it signed a strategic partnership with Arm to use its Arm Kleidi software library to enhance the performance of the company's embedded small language model, CaLLM Edge.

Kleidi helps accelerate machine learning and optimize neural network operations on Arm-based devices, the company said.

Under the partnership, Cerence AI and Arm will flexibly distribute and parallelize generative AI computation loads between CPUs and GPUs, which will improve speed and performance of CaLLM Edge.

The companies said the partnership will help improve AI applications in vehicles and move the industry toward "smarter, faster, and more responsive in-car assistants."
