C-MER Medical Holdings (HKG:3309) said its founder, Dennis Lam, will step down as chairman and chief executive officer effective June 1 to focus on clinical work and ophthalmic innovation.

Lam will remain with the company as a senior advisor and ophthalmologist, the eye care provider said in a Friday filing with the Hong Kong Exchange.

Vice Chairman Rex Auyeung will succeed Lam as chairman, while former Hong Kong health secretary Ko Wing-man will take over as vice chairman once the transition is complete.

Executive Director Li Xiaoting, Lam's wife and a controlling shareholder, was appointed CEO and vice chair.
