Mercer International Inc. has announced the release of its 2024 Sustainability Report titled "Fit for Future: Transition and Transformation." The report outlines the company's progress towards its 2030 sustainability goals, including a 25% improvement in the total recordable incident rate (TRIR) from 3.68 to 2.76, the publication of its first report on nature-related risks and dependencies in line with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), and a significant enhancement of its ESG risk rating by Sustainalytics from 21.4 in 2023 to 17.6 in 2024. Additionally, Mercer was honored with the SFI President's Award 2024 for leadership in Mass Timber and supply chain certification, and achieved 83% of its fuel/energy from renewable sources, moving closer to its goal of 90% by 2030.
