Synaptics announced that Rahul Patel has been appointed as chief executive officer of the artificial intelligence company.
He succeeds Chief Financial Officer Ken Rizvi, who has been serving as interim CEO since February. Rizvi will continue to be CFO, the company said.
Patel joins the San Jose, Calif.-based company from Qualcomm, where he spent a decade and was most recently a senior vice president of the connectivity, broadband and networking group. Prior to that, he held various senior leadership roles at Broadcom.
"Rahul's extensive semiconductor expertise and strong vision uniquely position him to accelerate our growth and innovation, steering us into our next chapter as we broaden our market reach," Chairman Nelson Chan said. Patel will also join the company's board of directors.
The company said Patel's expertise with wireless connectivity, and his track record of launching successful product lines, would help drive growth.
