Ford Motor (F) will allow Nissan to use part of its battery manufacturing facility in Kentucky, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The US automaker previously announced two new battery plants in Kentucky in a joint venture with SK On, according to the report.
One of the facilities is sitting unused, while only part of the other one is making batteries for Ford. The active facility will now also manufacture Nissan batteries, the unnamed sources told the publication.
Ford and Nissan did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
