1739 ET - Charter Communications' plans to acquire rival Cox Communications will give it greater scale to fend off competition, particularly in the commercial telecommunications market, Morgan Stanley analysts said in a research note. Cox was likely the first U.S. cable operator to push into the market, and not just into small- and medium-sized businesses, but also larger enterprises, the analysts said. As a result, it may have a larger B2B segment relative to its overall business than Charter, which should give the combined company greater scale to compete with current telecom incumbents, the analysts said.
