Flowers Foods to Gain Share, But Consumer Still Dictating Performance -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
May 19

0803 ET - Flowers Foods is expected to gain market share, but right now the business environment is not in its favor. "We've seen this over and over again this quarter from companies across CPG categories - it's not about execution right now, it's pretty much all about the consumer," says Truist Securities in a research note. The company behind Dave's Killer Bread and other packaged bakery foods lowered its outlook for the year after 1Q results weakened year-over-year. Truist expects Flowers Foods to gain share across multiple categories with its focus on better-for-you brands and extensions into snacking. Nonetheless, he lowers his FY25 and FY26 sales and adjusted EPS estimates. (denny.jacob@wsj.com; @pennedbyden)
