1824 ET - While Walmart's warning of impending price hikes has sparked worries, the retailer will likely be able to manage less drastic price increases than its competitors, Mizuho analysts said in a research note. Walmart has several levers to pull on -- like vendor pushback, spreading increases across an assortment of general merchandise, and redesigning products or packaging -- which should help it avoid passing along all of the added costs to consumers, the analysts said. Such factors make it one of the best-positioned U.S. businesses to absorb higher tariff costs, and could help it further widen price gaps with competitors, they said. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
