U.S. Natural Gas Futures End Week Lower -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
17 May

1507 ET - U.S. natural gas futures settle lower in choppy trade to end the week down 12% on cooler weather forecasts and continued large storage builds. "The pattern for next week into the following week trended cooler the past numerous days due to stronger weather systems into the Midwest and Northeast with showers and highs of 60s-70s," NatGasWeather.com says in a note. Longer forecasts point to a warmer-than-normal start to June, although "hotter U.S. weather patterns are needed if a weather induced rally is to be expected," the forecaster adds. Nymex natural gas settles down 0.8% at $3.334/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
