Asarfi Hospital Ltd (BOM:543943) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chennai's Gleneagles Hospital to set up Jharkhand's first multi-organ transplant unit, according to a Monday filing on the local bourse.
The new facility, to be located at Asarfi Hospital in Dhanbad, will offer heart, lung, kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplant services previously unavailable in the state.
The move aims to reduce the need for patients to travel to cities like Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai for transplants, the hospital said.
The unit will operate from a dedicated floor, with diagnostic and consultation services starting soon. Full-scale surgeries will begin after state health approvals.
