American Water Works (AWK) said Monday it would acquire multiple water and wastewater systems in eight US states from Nexus Water Group subsidiary Nexus Regulated Utilities for about $315 million.
Under the deal, American Water will add roughly 47,000 customer connections in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia, the company said.
The transaction, expected to close by August 2026, remains subject to regulatory approvals, among other conditions.
