Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is in advanced negotiations to acquire BT's 50% holding in UK broadcaster TNT Sports, the Financial Times reported Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter.

An announcement could come as early as next week alongside BT's annual earnings release, though the timing could shift depending on the progress of talks, the media outlet reported.

The transaction would reportedly give Warner Bros. Discovery full ownership of the sports network and end BT's decade-long investment in live sports broadcasting.

Warner Bros. Discovery holds a buyout option through the end of the year and is looking to consolidate control of the platform ahead of launching its revamped streaming service in the UK, the FT reported.

HBO Max will feature live sports alongside original programming, including HBO titles, the outlet said.

Warner Bros. Discovery and TNT Sports did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment. While BT declined to comment on the matter.
