UL Solutions (ULS) said Thursday it opened its Europe Advanced Battery Testing Laboratory in Germany that will test batteries used in electric vehicles and large-scale energy storage systems.
The company said the facility in Aachen will assess EV and industrial battery products during the research and development stages of battery manufacturing. The facility is its first in the EU solely focused on comprehensive battery testing services, UL Solutions said.
UL Solutions added that the laboratory replaces a smaller leased facility that was part of its acquisition of battery testing and simulation firm BatterieIngenieure last year.
Shares were 1.6% higher in recent premarket activity.
