Sector Update: Tech Stocks Edge Higher Premarket Friday

Technology stocks edged higher premarket Friday with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) up marginally and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) advancing by 1% recently.

WeRide (WRD) shares were over 2% higher after the company said it has launched fully driverless robo-taxi trial operations in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Nvidia (NVDA) will have new US production facilities, constructed by Wistron, ready by 2026 to build its artificial intelligence servers, Reuters reported, citing Wistron Chief Executive Jeff Lin. Nvidia shares were up over 1% pre-bell.

Applied Materials (AMAT) shares fell by more than 4% after the company reported higher fiscal Q2 non-GAAP earnings and revenue, with revenue missing analysts' expectations.
