May 9 (Reuters) - A U.S. federal judge on Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from transferring Arizona land to Rio Tinto RIO.L and BHP BHP.AX to build a major copper mine that is opposed by Native Americans.
U.S. District Judge Steven Logan said in an 18-page ruling that the federal government cannot move forward on the land exchange while the U.S. Supreme Court considers a separate, long-standing request to halt the project.
