Adani Power Secures 1,500 MW Contract with Uttar Pradesh

Adani Power (BOM:533096, NSE:ADANIPOWER) has received a Letter of Award from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) to supply 1,500 MW from a new 2x800 MW thermal project in Uttar Pradesh, according to a Saturday filing on the local bourses.

The contract, spanning 25 years, was secured at a tariff of 5.383 Indian rupees per unit.

The $2 billion greenfield Ultra-supercritical power plant is set to begin operations by FY30. The project is expected to create 8,000-9,000 jobs during construction and 2,000 in its operational phase.

This marks Adani Power's second major Power Supply Agreement in a year, following its win with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. for 6,600 MW.
