GE Vernova Nuclear Unit Gets Approval to Build Small Modular Reactor in Ontario

GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy reported Thursday the Province of Ontario and Ontario Power Generation have approved the construction of the first BWRX-300 small modular reactor.

The construction of the first of four planned BWRX-300s at the Darlington nuclear site will begin soon, with completion of the first unit scheduled by the end of the decade, it said.

GE Vernova's (GEV) Nuclear fuel business, Global Nuclear Fuel, is a GE Vernova-led joint venture with Hitachi.
