1048 ET - Expedia is seeing discouraging U.S. forward booking trends and faces the prospect of a challenging U.S. domestic summer travel season, Truist analysts say in a research note. The analysts are particularly cautious about Canadian inbound travel to the U.S., given that tensions between the U.S. and Canada have already resulted in Canadians taking fewer trips south of their border, the analysts say. Canadian inbound bookings were down nearly 30% in 1Q, relative to a 7% decline for overall international inbound, and souring geopolitics only took hold in the final weeks of the quarter, the analysts say.
