U.S. Natural Gas Ends Choppy Session Lower -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
07 May

1448 ET - U.S. natural gas futures settle lower in volatile trade with a drop in LNG feedgas flows and a slight pickup in near-term weather-related demand. The EIA lowered its 2025 dry natural gas production forecast to 104.9 billion cubic feet a day from 105.3 Bcf/d while maintaining expectations of higher LNG and pipeline exports. "A drop in crude oil prices over the past three months has reduced our expectations for U.S. crude oil production growth, and we now expect less associated natural gas production than we did in January," the EIA said in its monthly outlook. The agency cut its 2025 oil production forecast to 13.4 million barrels a day from 13.5 million b/d. Nymex natural gas settles down 2.5% at $3.463/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
