Emmerson Resources (ASX:ERM) has started a scoping study at its White Devil gold deposit, part of the Tennant Creek project in the Northern Territory, to support the potential classification of the deposit as a major mine, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

The study is being led by mining consultant Entech and is expected to be completed by June, the filing said.

An ultra-detailed drone-based magnetic survey has also started at the deposit, with data to be analysed and prioritised for drilling once processed, the filing added.

Additionally, a 5,000-metre reverse circulation drilling program will begin on May 19 at the deposit, the company said.

Shares of the company fell 4% in recent Wednesday trade.
