03 May

Health-care companies rose amid hopes about obesity drug sales.

Novo Nordisk shares rose by more than 5% after the Danish weight-loss drug maker said the Food and Drug Administration accepted a new drug application for a pill form of its popular Wegovy injection.

Shares of rival Eli Lilly, which is also racing to get oral varieties of its weight-loss drug to market, rose in sympathy.

The SPDR Select Sector Health Care exchange-traded fund rose by more than 1% and is now back in the green for the year to date.

Health insurer Cigna Group swung to a profit and logged higher revenue in the first quarter, prompting the company to raise its full-year outlook.
