Microsoft's (MSFT) Xbox unit said Friday it increased prices for consoles and controllers worldwide as well as for headsets in the US and Canada, effective May 1.
Pricing of some new games is also expected to increase to $79.99 starting this holiday season, Xbox said.
Xbox cited "market conditions and the rising cost of development" for the price adjustments.
Shares of Microsoft were up more than 2% in recent trading.
