Westpac Banking (ASX:WBC, NZE:WBC) said Wednesday Westpac NZ will pilot a community banking service van, which will travel between towns in the Southland region in New Zealand from mid-May.
The van will spend one day each week parked up in central locations in Windsor, Winton, and Te Anau, according to a statement.
The service will complement the bank's existing regional branch network, according to Westpac NZ's consumer banking and wealth spokesperson, Andrew Twidle.
Westpac employees from various Southland branches will travel with the van to the different locations each week, to assist with a number of services, including opening accounts, applying for home or personal loans, as well as pinning and issuing cards.
They will not be able to take cash deposits or issue cash.
It ran a community banker service trial in Wairoa for the past six months.
