Credit Acceptance (CACC) said Thursday it was pleased with the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's decision to withdraw from a lawsuit against the company by the New York State Attorney General.

Erin Kerber, Credit Acceptance's chief legal officer, said the case over its lending practices "never should have been brought in the first place."

Credit Acceptance said its motion to dismiss the case remains pending before the court.
