General Motors (GM) subsidiary Buick's refreshed lineup of compact SUVs, mostly built in South Korea and China, buoyed Q1 revenue, but high tariffs could hamper sales momentum, Reuters reported Saturday, citing Barclays analysts.

Automakers will not be able will not be able to sell vehicles that cannot make a profit, including vehicles imported from China and Korea, Reuters noted, citing analysts.

The analysts expect General Motors to cease imports from Korea and China of roughly 450,000 vehicles due to tariffs, Reuters said.

Higher vehicle costs are compelling auto executives to reassess their portfolios and production. For instance, General Motors increased truck output at an Indiana plant and temporarily paused production in Mexico and Canada, according to the news outlet.

Buick and General Motors didn't immediately respond to comment requests from MT Newswires.
