Rogers Communications Sees Mobile Pricing Discipline Improvements on Horizon -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0857 ET - Rogers Communications has been dealing with the industry-wide phenomenon of a shrinking pool of consumers due to slowing immigration growth in Canada. Executives at the company say on an analyst call that total mobile market is down by one-third from its highs. Rogers' response has been "focused on higher-value segments, with minimal price discounting." The executives say that it sees better pricing discipline on the horizon. Current competitive discounting for mobile plans by carriers, they say, is just the "market adjusting to smaller size, and we see opportunities for growth in annual revenue per unit and price discipline."
