1646 ET - Consumer spending began to slow in February, hurt by elevated economic uncertainty, Chipotle CEO Scott Boatwright says on a call with analysts. "We could see this in our visitation study, where saving money because of concerns around the economy was the overwhelming reason consumers were reducing the frequency of restaurant visits," he says. Slower trends have continued through April. Boatwright says he can't predict how long these headwinds will last, adding that the chain will focus on value proposition and earning every transaction moving forward. Shares fall 3.4% after hours.
