Pacific Biosciences of California (PACB) said Tuesday it was selected by the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative as a technology partner for its North African Dementia Registry project.

The partnership will utilize Pacific Biosciences of California's sequencing technology to develop genetic insights into the factors contributing to Alzheimer's disease and dementia for future research, prevention, and treatment efforts, according to a company statement.

The collaboration is expected to address the underrepresentation of North African populations in dementia research and build a comprehensive dataset to further the research community's understanding of the disease, the company said.

Shares were up over 2% in recent Tuesday trading.
