HSBC Buys Back Over 1.3 Million Shares in UK, Hong Kong

HSBC Holdings (HKG:0005) bought back 1.32 million shares in Hong Kong and London on Tuesday, according to a Wednesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

The British lender repurchased 143,846 shares in the UK at an average price of 7.68 pounds sterling apiece, and 1.17 million shares in Hong Kong at an average price of HK$78.49.

Since the start of the buyback program in February, HSBC has repurchased 168.3 million shares for $1.88 billion.

Upon cancellation of the repurchased shares in the UK, the bank will have 17.7 million ordinary shares.
