Australian mining companies advanced further on Tuesday as gold continued to shine amid persisting global uncertainties.
Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN) rose 5%; De Grey Mining (ASX:DEG) advanced 4%; Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) climbed 4% in recent trade on Tuesday.
Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) and Newmont (ASX:NEM) were flat in positive territory.
Gold climbed 1.8% to $3,487 per ounce in afternoon trade in Sydney. This is the first time that gold broke past $3,400 as investors continued to flock to the safe-haven asset amid increased market volatility.
