A joint venture between Ameresco and Sunel was awarded 303.4 million euros in engineering, procurement and construction contracts for a trio of solar parks in southwestern Romania.

Ameresco SUNEL Energy will oversee design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance for the 466 MWp solar projects, which will replace coal-fired power generation.

The projects will feature over 757,000 fixed-tilt solar modules, and the solar parks are expected to offset approximately 734,789 tons of CO emissions annually, the company said Thursday.

Romania has committed to phasing out coal by 2032, the company added.
