Enbridge's (ENB) Line 5 tunnel will receive an expedited review from the US Army Corps of Engineers after the oil pipeline project met the parameters of an emergency energy declaration issued by President Donald Trump, the Detroit News reported Wednesday, citing a public notice.
It wasn't clear how soon a federal environmental impact statement on the project will be finalized under the declaration with a final decision previously anticipated in early 2026, the report said.
The Line 5 tunnel is set to run under the Straits of Mackinac, a narrow waterway in Michigan that connects Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
Enbridge and the US Army Corps of Engineers didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
