U.S. Natural Gas Little Changed Ahead of Easter Break -- Market Talk

1503 ET - Natural gas futures give up post-storage gains and settle near flat ahead of the Easter weekend, with the near-term weather outlook offering little in the way of demand. The EIA reported a 16 Bcf build in inventories for last week, smaller than the 23 Bcf estimate in a Wall Street Journal survey of analysts and smaller than the 50 Bcf five-year average for the week. "Price action has mirrored the downtrend in demand, with the front month finding support at the $3.25 technical level so far," Gelber & Associates says in a note. "Many participants have been reducing risk earlier than normal this week in anticipation of the long weekend." Nymex gas for May delivery slips 0.1%, to $3.245/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
