Sun Country Airlines said its chief financial officer has stepped down, confirming a report from The Wall Street Journal that he has been tapped as the next chief executive of Spirit Airlines.
The Minneapolis-based discount airline said in a securities filing Thursday that Dave Davis has informed the board of his departure and that a search for his replacement is under way.
Bill Trousdale, the company's treasurer and vice president of financial planning and analysis, will fill in for the time being as interim CFO, said Sun Country.
The Wall Street Journal reported ahead of the announcement that Spirit Airlines plans to tap Davis to be its CEO starting Monday. Spirit is hoping the longtime executive can chart a new course for the budget carrier as it emerges from bankruptcy.
