Good news for Nintendo fans: The Japan-based game maker has decided not to raise the price of its hotly anticipated Switch 2 console.

On Friday, the company said that Switch 2 pre-orders will start on April 24, and the price of the console will remain at $449.99 as original announced on April 2. Pricing for the games Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will stay unchanged at $79.99 and $69.99, respectively.

Nintendo said the pricing for any product may be adjusted in the future depending on "market conditions."

On April 4, Nintendo announced it was delaying U.S. preorders of the Switch 2 console, which it had original scheduled for April 9, because of uncertainty over tariffs.

"We apologize for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our customers may be experiencing. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025," Nintendo said in a statement Friday.

Earlier this month, President Donald Trump had announced so-called reciprocal tariff rates on goods from dozens of countries, including elevated rates on goods from China and Vietnam. Nintendo manufactures its consoles in Asia and has steadily moved more production from China to Vietnam during the last several years.
