Ericsson (ERIC) and GCI Communication said Monday they entered a partnership to upgrade GCI's core network infrastructure and 5G services using Ericsson's dual-mode 5G Core offerings and AI tools.
As part of the deal, Ericsson will manage the existing 3G, 4G, and 5G non-standalone core networks alongside the new cloud-native core platform on behalf of GCI to support its network in Alaska, the companies said.
The agreement will prepare GCI for the future launch of 5G standalone services statewide, according to the statement.
