Auckland International Airport's (NZE:AIA, ASX:AIA) total passenger movements fell 3% year on year to over 1.6 million passengers in March, following a 4% decline in February, according to a Tuesday filing with the New Zealand and Australian bourses.
Total international passengers decreased by 4% to 860,443. Excluding transits, international passenger movements were down 2%. Seat capacity on US routes fell 18%, partly attributable to Air New Zealand's suspension of Chicago services and United Airlines' exit from the Los Angeles route, per the filing.
Domestic passengers declined 3% to 765,689.
Total passenger movements for the financial year to date grew 1% to 14.4 million.
The company's shares were down almost 1% in New Zealand in recent Tuesday trade.
