Black Cat Syndicate (ASX:BC8) said underground mining at the Myhree deposit within the Kal East gold project in Western Australia was approved, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

It added that underground operations can begin following the completion of the open pit at the project in October. The commencement will also be determined by operational requirements.

The Myhree underground currently comprises a resource estimate of 815,000 tonnes at 4 grams per tonne grade of gold and remains open at depth.

It is undertaking tendering of underground and open pit contracts as well as drilling for grade control and resource extensions at the project.

It also plans to reoptimize the Kal East open pits and the underground mines based on current gold prices. Other mine approvals are in progress and expected to be received shortly.
